Pujya Sri Swamiji's Discourse - Canada - 31 March 2010

Bala Datta here is good. I am happy that they chanted Hanuman Chalisa during Sri Chakra Puja today.
They will cherish this training when they grow up. In present days, I find many youth disoriented and feeling insecure. I too had troubles in my youth. My aunt Venkamma gave me guidance. She was a strict lady. She was a lady with gentleman qualities. Swamiji's father had no particular affection for me or my sisters. He realized it only when he was very old. In the end he said " you are such a beautiful flower". But it was too late. I did not even know how to wear a shirt or a short. We did not have electric light in our home. I studied under street lights. For food, I had to beg from house to house. Aunt lived in a room in a Shiva temple. When I came home with the begged food, she would command me to give away that food to beggars. She would give me one corn bread (Jonna roti). I was also required to go from shop to shop and seek alms. The collected money should be given to the head master as fees for poor children at school. I am telling all this to say that in spite of all this, I was very happy. But here in Canada, children have good parents, nice school, cars, books etc. but no studies. When I heard them chant Hanuman Chalisa, I remembered my childhood.

These children here were born in hospital with luxuries. I was born in water. There was no mid wife. For three hours my mother was unconscious. She was in meditation. My tests started with my birth. The tests continue even today. Many devotees urge me to take rest. I get irritated when that word is uttered. Take rest is a lazy statement. Until death we have to work. We have to try to do good. Chant some Mantras. Do exercise. Walk. Don't sit on a sofa and reminisce. Many sit on a sofa and brood over their marriage which happened 20 years ago or such ancient thing. Such brooding leads to depression. And then cry. Memories should not lead to unhappiness. Look at me. I remember my childhood, which is extreme in present day world and I still feel proud. Develop such attitude. Think what you can do good today or tomorrow.

Think of Rama and brothers. Think of their life in Vasishtha Vishwamitra Ashramas. There was no hot food or hot water. They lived in their own kingdom but still they went through such tough student life. Their father was "the emperor". That decision to lead a tough Guru Kula, helped greatly when they went to the 14 years of Vanavaasa. What ever the adversity, Lord Rama sported a positive outlook. Attitude is important. Once again I am happy with the Bala Datta program here. I am very happy with the farm house Guru Nilaya. Canadian devotees' love and affection is reflected there. I don't want to announce any plans. Hanuman will guide us. Attend Satsanga regularly. Support Datta Yoga Center. Join Kriya Yoga class and get benefits. Bala Datta program is also good. If possible come to US music concert somewhere. DRC is a beautiful center. Come and do Sadhana there.

From tomorrow 45 days of US tour starts.

Jaya Guru Datta Sri Guru Datta.
