(In this Kali Yuga, Lord Venkateshwara is the incarnation of Maha Vishnu to be worshipped by devotees. Lord Dattatreya is the supreme teacher, for all generations to come. Let this sacred combination, benefit the humankind.)
This was the exceptional prayer composed by Sri Swamiji during the inauguration of Sri Datta Venkateshwara Temple, Mysore in 1999. Ever since, the first ever Dharma Prachara mission undertaken by His Holiness on behalf of TT Devasthanams in the terrorism infested Sreekakulam District, in the north eastern corner of Andhra Pradesh (in 1989); relationship between the two institutions developed. (Even today, TT Devasthanams supports Vedic activities undertaken by Datta Peetham).
Devotees from the region, especially the Tirupati city had been requesting Sri Swamiji to establish a centre in the pilgrim centre since 1990s. In spite of several offers of land for Ashrama, Sri Swamiji neither revealed the right place nor the time for establishing a centre at Tirupati. This year, Sri Swamiji decided that Ashrama could be established in the vicinity of Swarnamukhi River, in Tondavada Village, near the historic Agastyeswara Temple. (River Swarna Mukhi has a special place in the life history of Sri Swamiji, as he met Paramacharya in Kala Hasti Temple town situated on the banks of this river, 10 km from this place.)
Program
Arriving from Nelluru on 24th September, Sri Swamiji entered the new site for Ashrama on Chandragiri Road. Thousands of devotees, school children, scouts, volunteers and Trustees welcomed Sri Swamiji enthusiastically. After inauguration of the hermitage (built in ancient style), Oudumbara and Aamalaka saplings were planted in the new Ashrama. Dr.G. Subrahmanyam, Vice-Chancellor of SVIMS (Sri Venkateshwara Institute of Medical Sciences – an autonomous medical service institute) lit the lamp to inaugurate the program and Sri Raghu (Chief Executive of Bheemas group) welcomed Sri Swamiji. Sri P. Sankara Narayana Bhat, Veda Pundit of Sri Venkateshwara Temple and Board member of Veda Examinations of Datta Peetham offered garland. Sri C. S Krishna, executive Trustee narrated the experiences of members and how Sri Swamiji tested the firmness of their determination at every stage, to reach this mile stone. On this occasion, thousands of books and pens were distributed to school children.
Addressing the crowd, Sri Swamiji has fondly remembered the brief association of Sri M. Bose, principal donor of this plot. He revealed that it is the divine force which makes the decisions about great monuments, not humans according to their whims and fancies. He affirmed that Datta will guide all of you about further development at this place at the right time and therefore there is no need for haste. However, it is imperative for all the Datta Devotees and devotees of Sri Venkateshwara Swamy worldwide to support this project for their benefit, He added.
At noon, Sri Swamiji arrived at the new Guru Nilayam in Tirupati City, donated by Sri SNSR Sekhar and Smt. Phani Sekhar. Veda University Vice Chancellor Sri Sannidhanam Sudarshana Sarma and other officials visited Sri Swamiji.
In the evening, the program was held at Tyagaraja Mandapam. Sri Venkataramana, Tirupati MLA lit the lamp to inaugurate the function. Dr. Medasani Mohan, an outstanding poet and director of Annamancharya Sahitya Project of TTDevasthanams, Sri Ananta Padmanabha Rao, director of local Radio station welcomed Sri Swamiji. Sri Swamiji sung few compositions on Venkateshwara to immerse the audience in an ocean of devotion and bliss. Later he proceeded to the sacred Tirumala hills, for night stay.
25th September 2007
Executive Officer of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams Sri K..V Ramanachary met Sri Swamiji and welcomed Him to the sacred Tirumala Hills. He sought blessings for all the TTD Staff in continuing the exemplary service to the divine and requested Sri Swamiji for another Bhagavata Pravachana Saptaham at Hyderabad. Chief Priest of Sri Venkateshwara Temple, Dr. Ramana Deekshitulu, Dr.K. Rosayya, AP Finance Minister were important dignitaries to visit Sri Swamiji.
Darshanam at the most auspicious sanctum sanctorum was the main event at Tirumala. This day being Ananta Padmanabha Chaturdasi, added significance to this program. Arriving at 7.30 AM at the holy Temple, Sri Swamiji was received by Joint Executive Officer Sri Balaramayya and the team of Veda Pundits and priests. It did not seem as a co-incidence that the moment Sri Swamiji was at Maha Dwaram, Chakra Perumal procession was coming out of the temple, proceeding to Swami Pushkarini for ablution on the occasion of Ananta Chaturdasi. (One may recall that the first ever visit of Sri Swamiji was also marked by a similar incidence, where the Malayappa Swamy procession was coming on the opposite direction, when Sri Swamiji alighted out of the car). It was deemed a great omen to all the devotees and instilled the thought of Sudarshana being sent by Lord for protection of all. Sri Swamiji did prayers for one hour in Sri Ranganayaka Mandapam in the Temple, as special Puja was being performed on the account of Ananta Chaturdasi. Later, he proceeded to the sanctum sanctorum (Antaralayam) of Sri Venkateshwara and continued to offer prayers for nearly 60 minutes. What a superlative sight, it was! Lord Venkateshwara was resplendent in his diamond studded Golden crown and armour, adored with Vyjayanti Mala, Salagrama Mala, Sword effulgent in the soft glow of Ghee Lamps! and Pujya Sri Swamiji was sitting on one side! About 450 devotees considered themselves chosen to be lucky to have this rare sight. No words can describe this bliss, except to experience the same.
Later, Sri Chakra Puja was performed at Srinivasam guest house. Sri Srinivasa Ghanapathi, a noted Veda scholar and professor at Dharmagiri Veda Pathasala of TTD spoken in Sanskrit about the meaning of famous Mantras uttered before a Sanyasi – Na Karmana Na Prajaya Dhanena. Continuing the same vein, Sri Swamiji posed few interesting questions on the subject and made his disciple Vamshi Krishna Ghanapathi to answer them. The questions pertained to the state of mind during death. What exactly is one supposed to think during the final departure? And what could be difference between a self realised soul and an ignorant one? Can we find any examples in recent past for this phenomenon? (Sri Swamiji later hinted that late Dr. Srinivas of Mysore Ashrama was an example for this state of enlightened mind during the process of death.) The last engagement in this Trip was the Raga Sagara – music for meditation and healing program at Mahati Auditorium at Tirupati. The program was hosted by TT Devasthanams in collaboration with local Gnana Bodha Sabha. TTD Board Chairman Sri B Karunakara Reddy, inaugurated the program and Sri KV Ramanachary, executive officer gave the welcome address. Sri Bhaskara Reddy, Chairman of Tirupati Urban Development Authority and Koteswara Rao and TTD Chief Engineer were present on the occasion. Sri Swamiji released a book called Ganapati written in Kannada by Sridhara Murty and translated into English by a noted scholar Dr.J Hanumat Sastry. This was a publication by Raga Ragini Trust of Datta Peetham. Commencing the music program, Sri Swamiji explained in detail the process of Nada Chikitsa. This was one of the most brilliant narrations about the methodology of Ragaragini Vidya. Palaya Govinda – a song composed instantaneously during his first Darshanam of Venkateshwara (1991) was sung in Ganamurty raga. Kokila (Sapta Matruke) and Dharmavati (Namo Namo Ganapataye) were other important items in this concert.
The meditation and healing concertwas telecast live by Samskruti TV Channel.
