Sri Swamiji in Nellore - 17-23 September 2007

Parama Pujya Swamiji departed from Vijayawada at 7.30 A.M. on 17th September, 2007 to Nellore. Midway, he briefly halted at ‘DAM Datta Natha Kshetram’, Chodavaram Village, Gunturu and Dhanvantari Datta Paduka Kshetram, Addanki, Prakasam District. (We may recall that temple at Addanki was consecrated last year and this place has a unique place in the Annals of Datta Peetham for being the only place where full-pledged temple complex was constructed without a single visit of Sadgurudeva to the town.) Pujya Swamiji advised the members to conduct more Puja/Homa programmes especially Anagha Vratam and commence medical service activities soon.

Significance of Nellore Visit
The City of Nellore Located on the banks of Pinakini River used to be called Simhapuri. This place, famous for the temple of Sriranganayaka Swamy, was visited by Sri Swamiji for the first time in 1983. In 1990, Pujya Swamiji was offered 2 acre plot by Smt. Rebala Sujatamma and Kattamanchi Subhaprada. The donors have built a Krishna Temple and donated the land to Datta Peetham and Pujya Swamiji consecrated the temples in 1992. The Datta Temple in this Ashrama is second in the series of Nava Natha Kshetras, established by Sri Swamiji.

Later, Mahalakshmi Swarnambika, Karya Siddhi Anjaneya, Naga and Navagraha shrines were added to the temple complex. Radhakrishna Dhyana Mandiram, Prayer Hall, Guru Nilayam and other utility structures were also constructed in due course of time. However, Bhagavata Saptaham by Pujya Swamiji could not happen due to a variety of reasons. This year Sarvajit was destined to be the right time to complete the vow of Bhagavata Pravachana Saptaham. The auspicious occasion was the Punah Pratishtha (Reinstallation) of Sri Krishna in this temple and Maha Kumbhabhishekam, 15 years after the initial consecration. To add more joy to the event, local members led by Executive Trustee Smt. P. Prameelamma joined hands to build a spacious and convenient Guru Nilayam for Pujya Swamiji. Therefore, Sadgurudeva decided to conduct a seven day programme encompassing the important activities mentioned above; from 17th to 23rd of September, 2007.

Arriving at 3.30 PM, Sri Swamiji inaugurated the new Guru Nilayam. In the evening, welcome function preceded the commencement of Bhagavata Saptaham. Sri Kakani Govardhana Reddy, Chairman of Zilla Parishad lit the lamp to begin the programme. Sri Swamiji extensively spoke on the incarnation of Lord (Sri Krishna) quoting from the 10th chapter (Dashama Skandha) of Bhagavata Maha Puranam. Dispelling many notions about the deeds of Sri Krishna and events of his childhood, Pujya Swamiji inspired thoughts in the minds of discerning listeners. The discourses were intermittently blended with rendition of chaste compositions of Sri Jayalakshmi Mata and famous chants and hymns from Narayaneeyam and Puranas. The crowds increased from day to day. The audience knew no bounds to their joy in partaking in the Saptaham. Barriers of wealth, limitations of time, vagaries of lethargy were transcended in due course of Saptaham, where one could see all sections of society sitting adjacent to each other listening to the discourses. It was a splendid week of devotional fervour and bliss.

19th Sep – Yagasala rituals commenced and devotees assumed Vasudeva Dwadasakshari Mantra Japa Deeksha for 5 days during Pratishtha rituals.
20th Sep - Kalasha Sthapanam and Panchagavya Adhivasam to the new Black Marble statue of Sri Krishna
21st Sep - Jaladhivasam, Mandala Devata Homa and Purusha Sukta, Narayana Sukta Homa

22nd Sep – Sri Swamiji attended the video screening of “Nada Brahma 2007” Charity Show along with local devotees in Padmavati Theatre. Proceeds of this charity show were donated to the Integrated Tribal Development School Project in Mekedatu.
Maha Snapanam and Moola Mantra Homa were conducted in the noon.
Evening - Dhanyaadhivasam and Sayyadhivasam were followed by the release of Commemorative Souvenir published by Sri Ganapati Sachchidananda Krishna Gnana Bodha Sabha Nellore Trust. The Souvenir was edited by Dr. Sarvepalli Ajay Kumar Sarma.
Sri Swamiji reconstituted the Board of Trustees by appointing Sri Anapalli Ashok Kumar Reddy as Executive Trustee, Smt. P. Prameelamma as Secretary, Smt. C. Sireeshamma and Dr. Ajay as Joint Secretaries. All the Trustees affirmed their commitments towards the objectives and activities of the Trusts on this occasion. Sri Swamiji emphasized the importance of Cleanliness and Greenery in Ashrama, which alone would attract him to this Ashrama and called upon the members to improve the same.
23rd Sep The Sacred Yantra was placed on the alter (Aadhara Peetham) at 10.25 a.m. during Vruschika Lagnam. Then, Sri Swamiji performed a special Abhishekam with Honey to the Golden Krishna Icon worshipped by Mata Jayalakshmi. The auspiciousness of the period was further enhanced with the appearance of a circle around the Sun (Surya chakra). After Prana Pratishtha and Kala Nyasa in the main Temple, Sri Swamiji performed Kumbhabhishekam to Maha Ganapati, Nam Datta Natha, and Sri Krishna Temples.

Praying to God on this occasion Sri Swamiji begged pardon on behalf of all those who have committed mistakes, bereft of sanity and consciousness. He further sought protection against devastating calamities and implored for continued prosperity. Thousands of participants hailed victory to truth and dharma. Smt. P.Sailaja, City Mayor, participated in the programme along with MLA, Anam Vivekananda Reddy.
Thousands of people were fed on this occasion.

Bhagavata Saptaham concluded with the discourse about Rukmini Kalyanam (Holy marriages of Goddesses Rumania with Sri Krishna).
Thus ended an excellent week of devotional activities, soul reaching Bhajans, thought provoking discourses, powerful chants, sacred homas culminating in the consecration of a beautiful Sri Krishna idol in Nellore Ashrama.
