Dakshinamurthy Pratishtha & 12th Year Kumbhabhishekam at
Maya Muktavadhuta Datta Kshetra in Kadamalaiputtur (Acharpakkam)
in Tamil Nadu State - 8, 9 & 10 February 2006

Jaya Guru Datta

Sri Swamiji visited Maya Muktavadhuta Dattatreya Kshetra in Acharpakkam village on 8th February 2006 to perform the Kumbhabhishekam for the newly built Dakshinamurthy temple and statue, inaugurate the new Guru Nilayam and to perform the 15th anniversary Kumbhabhishekam of the Bala Dattatreya temple and Ganapati temples.

On 9th, Sri Swamiji visited Nadupalani in Perunkarunai village and gave instructions for the renovation of the Muruga Temple, community center and the steps leading to the Muruga shrine on the hillock. Sri Swamiji also spent time with the village children. In the late evening, Sri Swamiji performed Yantra Pratishtha in the Dakshinamurthy temple.

Acharpakkam Ashrama is situated on the busy National highway from Madras to Kanyakumari. The new Dakshinamurthy statue is very tall and faces south. Under the statue is the actual shrine of Dakshinamurthy.

On 10th morning, Sri Swamiji performed the Kumbhabhishekam for the Dakshinamurthy temple and the old Ganapati and Dattatreya shrines. In the Datta Shrine, the Datta idol is sculpted as a child Datta. Hence the name Bala Datta (Child Datta). Behind the idol on the temple wall, statues of Atri and Anasuya are there.

During the Kumbhabhisheka speech, Sri Swamiji mentioned that Dakshinamurthy is the giver of knowledge. Jnana alone removes ignorance. Sri Swamiji called on people to be proud of their culture and legacy and to be compassionate to the sensitivities of others.

In the evening, Sri Swamiji answered spiritual questions. Some important ones were

Q- What is the difference between Maya and Maha Maya

A - There is no difference. It is like saying Sri Sri Swamiji instead of Sri Swamiji

Q- It is agreed that Music heals. Why is it that Cinema tunes composed in the same Raga as Sri Swamiji's Bhajans do not have the soothing effect?

A- It is because the compositions are embedded with Beejaksharas and the composer himself (Sri Swamiji) has set them to tune and sings.

Q- What is the meaning of " Krittikatara Siddhanusara Siddhaduta Manohara " in the Bhajan "Dattatreya Trimurti Rupa"?

A- Krittikatara - is a metaphor to convey that Dattatreya is as bright as all the stars. Siddhanusara means the great Yogis (Siddhas - accomplished ones) follow Datta, Siddhaduta - Siddhas (accomplished ones) are the messengers of Datta.

In the night, fire works were arranged by the villagers.

Sri Swamiji left for Pondicherry on 11th morning.
