Sri Swamiji then sang this year's Yugadi Bhajan "Swagatamu" and explained it. O’ Paarthiva Samvatsara – we welcome you. We don’t know how many times you have come and graced the world. We welcome such Yugadi. Everyday is a new day. I welcome you again. All these indicators of time – seconds, minutes hours, years etc., are my invention for my convenience. You don’t have such barriers. I figure that your wheel has 60 spokes. I don’t know if you will elevate me or push me down in this year. I leave my results to you as I am an ignorant person in life. You are the giant bull dozer that moves on and on and on. But I feel your wondrous love for beauty in the singing of the birds and the green leaves that the plants sprout each day, the colors of the flowers and the patterns of the clouds. I feel you as Dattatreya – the Sachchidananda Trinity God Head. Let me sing this year’s new Yugadi Song Sri Swamiji sings “SWAGATAMU SWAGATAMU O’ PARTHIVA This is a very meaningful new Yugadi Bhajan. This Bhajan is written with pain in my heart about the recent Tsunami. O’ Paarthiva (name of the year) – You may be famous as our ancestors had praised you many many times? Should I welcome you with that happiness that our ancestors welcomed you? Or Should I welcome you with eagerness to clean my anguish and anxieties? I never questioned you but I welcome you. Just because the last year drubbed us with the dreaded Tsunami, we will not stop welcoming you. But let me tell you – my mind is full of unpleasant confusions yet at the same time, I am now hearing the beautiful cuckoos singing. While I welcome you by spreading tender mango leaves on your path to comfort your coming, I have a request to make – I don’t want you to cause any ripples from the recent Tsunami troubles – I
want to tell you that My Dattatreya will protect me in times of troubles
and happiness so that I can joyously walk in the path of Sachchidananda. Jaya Guru Datta
