Parama
Pujya Sri Swamiji arrived in Acharpakkam Ashrama in Tamil Nadu state
on the afternoon of Feb. 10, 2001
At 6 PM,
Sri Swamiji have back the papers of the Nadu Palani Ashrama to its donor,
Sri Muttu Swamy who had recovered from a long illness and Sri Swamiji
wanted him to care for the Ashrama and Murugan temple there. Sri Swamiji
traced the history of the Nadu Palani Ashrama, the relationship of Muruga
with Dattatreya and that Muttuswamy had asked Sri Swamiji to care for
the Ashrama as he was aged and sick. But now, after four years and much
development, Sri Muttu Swamy had recovered and Sri Swamiji wanted him
to care for the shrines.
In the
evening the Shankaracharya of Kanchi Kamakoti Math, His Holiness Jayendra
Saraswati Swamiji visited the Ashrama and in His brief address to the
gathering the seer extolled the efforts of Sri Swamiji in bringing spiritual
and Dharmic awareness in the rural areas of India. He was in full admiration
of the unique Dhyana Mantapa (Meditation Hall) which was to be inaugurated
the next day.
Sri Swamiji
in His speech Blessed the audience and donated Rs.50,000 to the Shankaracharya
who was going to the earthquake affected areas in Gujarat for rehabilitation
works.
Later,
both saints left for the recently renovated Shiva Temple in Acharpakkam
village whose Kumbhabhishekam was to be held the next day. The 2000
year old large and imposing temple complex houses the ancient Udbhava
Shiva Lingam (self created Shiva Lingam), a newly consecrated Shiva
Lingam and a Devi shrine. The Acharyas (seers) were taken around the
temple complex by the members. Sri Swamiji was pleased with the sincere
and dedicated efforts of the members who had transformed the temple
from black and sooty greased up smelly place to a new and sparkling
temple in just 15 months. Sri Swamiji placed the Yantra of mother goddess
in the shrine and offered Purnahuti in the Yaga Shala.
Next day,
Sri Swamiji inaugurated the Ganapati Dhyana Mantapam in Acharpakkam
Ashrama. This octagonal shaped meditation chamber has 32 Ganapatis around
the hall. Inside there are placed a large photo and Padukas of Sri Swamiji
A music system hummed with meditation tunes and chants of Sri Swamiji.
Sri Swamiji blessed the place and left for the consecration of Shiva
temple in the village. Over two hundred thousand people had thronged
the temple premises. Trucks and busses loaded with folks from surrounding
villages were still arriving. Sri Swamiji first proceeded to the house
where The junior pontiff of Kanchi, Sri Vijayendra Saraswati Swamiji
was camping in the village. The seers met for over 30 minutes. Then
they proceeded to the temple where the chief priests welcomed them with
Purna Kumbha. They were then taken to the Yaga Shala for Purnahuti and
Visarjana. At 10 AM both the Swamijis proceeded to the top of the tower
and performed Kumbha Abhishekam from there. Sri Swamiji Blessed everyone
and left for Mysore at 11 AM.
