The Sacred Project of Hanuman in Trinidad Ashrama

It is a well known fact that the Ashrama in the island nation of Trinidad and Tobago is one of the most vibrant and active one.

Sri Swamiji bestowed the rare opportunity of celebrating His birthday to that country in 1993. It was for the first time that such important occasion was celebrated outside Mysore Ashrama.

Trinidad has been the recipients of many such rare Blessings. The Datta movement in Trinidad has been developing in leaps and bounds since the first visit of Sri Swamiji in 1976. The Aripo river stream has been a sacred place for bath like Ganga to the Trinidad devotees ever since Sri Swamiji visited it.

The Ashrama in Carapichaima area is situated in the lush green sugar cane fields and the warm and light atmosphere of the Ashrama is invigorating and energetic.

Presently the Ashrama there is witnessing massive development works. A giant 90 feet Hanuman idol is under construction. The existing prayer hall is being renovated in traditional south Indian Temple architecture. The Datta temple, Devi Temple., Ganapati temple and Shiva temple are being newly built with proper temple towers and a front welcome tower. We present here the photos of the Ashrama taken on 6th December 2002. One can grasp the amount of developmental activity underway in the Trinidad Ashrama.

Sri Swamiji will be visiting Trinidad on 3rd June 2003 to consecrate the new Karya Siddhi Hanuman shrine and the 90 feet Hanuman statue, the Datta, Devi, Ganapati and Shiva shrines. The consecration will be on 9th June and on 11th June, the 61st Birthday of Sri Swamiji will be celebrated.

All this will happen only when the existing works get completed. There are only seven months left and the existing staff of 13 Indian temple sculptors will be joined by six other sculptors to speed up the progress.
