on Herbal Medicine released Sri Swamiji released a book titled HERBAL SCIENCE written in Kannada by Dr.P.S.Narasimha Swamy. The inauguration took place before the Mulikeswara statue at 3 PM. habba in Ashrama A unique six day long festival to spread the glory of the great Dasa literature of Karnataka started in Ashrama at 6 PM on 27th December 2003. COnducted by the Haridasa Sahitya Samiti, the festival is aptly titled Haridasa Habba - festival of Haridasas. The great lineage of the Dasa scholars of Karnataka starting from the 14th century was the golden age of devotional music. The festival was inaugurated by Pujya Sri Viswesha Teertha Swamiji of Pejawara Matha, Udupi. He aptly called the devotional literature of Dasas as the soothing full moon light where as the Shastras (scriptures) were like the sun light. Though original, the sharp and strong sunlight cannot be tolerated by many whereas the same light when reflected from the moon has more cooling effect he said. Sri Swamiji Blessed the event with his divine presence and a speech. Sri Swamiji said "but for the great Dasas like Purandara Dasa, Kanaka Dasa, the devotional integrity of medieval times could have been less effective. Sri Swamiji said that he himself was a great admirer of the wonderful Dasa literature and Sr i Swamiji has sung several Dasa songs. Sri Vidyabhushana gave a concert of Dasa compositions.

Sri Swamiji's Christmas Message Click here to download in PDF format Sri Swamiji presides 22nd December 2003 Pujya Sri Swamiji presided over the 1044th Birth anniversary (yes 1044th year) of the founder pontiff of Suttur Math - Adi Jagadguru Sutturu Swamiji. The program was held in the sprawling fields of Urs boarding school in Mysore. The five hour long ceremony (2nd day of 8 days program) started at 5.30 PM. The present Swamiji of Suttur Math Pujya Deshikendra Swamiji received Sri Swamiji. Pujya Ranga Priya Swamiji of Bangalore also participated. So did many other dignitaries. In the function Sri Swamiji termed HINDU as one who was Himse inda Duura kannada meaning - one who distances from violence. Sri Swamiji termed that present day Bharata was more of a BARA (kannada- dryness) and it needed emergency dose of self righteous living and conduct.
Bharat Seva Dal in Ashrama 13-23rd December 2003 The Swamiji of Vidyaranya PeethBharat Seva Dal a premier volunteer organisation set up to train teachers and students moral and social values held its annual meet of the Mysore and Chamaraja Nagara Taluks in Ashrama for nine days from 13th to the 23rd December 2003. Sri Swamiji Blessed the passing out parade and gave a speech to them that their moral and social values in life holds good only when it has a strong spiritual foundation. More that 130 teachers from as many schools from the two Taluks (sub divisions) of Mysore and Chamaraja Nagara participated in the eleven day long program. Datta Peetham was the host to this conference. On Sunday (21st) Sri Swamiji surprised the participants by getting Benne Masala Dosa (a very special Mysore delicacy) served to them as dinner in the evening. Hampi Swamiji in Ashrama 3rd December 2003 - Wednesday The Swamiji of Vidyaranya Peetha from Hampi, the ancient temple in Karnataka state visited Swamiji in Mysore Ashrama and discussed wade range of issues. He invited Swamiji to visit Hampi soon. Click here to see the photo of both Swamijis Ramayana lecture by Sri Swamiji 3-5 December 2003 Sri Swamiji is lecturing for three evenings on the first 100 Shlokas (stanzas) of Ramayana. They are popularly known as Bala Ramayana. Sri Swamiji is calling them Shata Shloki Ramayana. The lecture commenced on the evening of 3rd December in the universal prayer hall. Sri Swamiji spoke for more than 3 hours and the Telugu lecture was sprinkled with Sanskrit Bhajans and Shlokas on Lord Rama. lucky devotees are participating in Kriya Yoga camp organized in Ashrama.
Sri Swamiji inaugurated the camp on the evening of 2nd. The camp runs
for three days on 3rd, 4th and 5th December 2003. Sri Swamiji is addressing
the students for one hour a day. Swami Manasa and other Kriya Yoga teachers

CLICK HERE FOR THE PHOTOS OF THE EVENT Naguvana Halli temple donated 1st December 2003 - Monday The Lakshmi Narayana temple in the Naguvana Halli village near Mysore city was donated to Avadhoota Datta Peetham today. The owners of the temple, Sri Vasudeva Swami and Jayalakshmi conducted Pada Puja to Sri Swamiji in their temple premises and offered the temple to the Datta Peetham. The aged couple were finding it difficult to maintain. Also the original founder of the temple Mahant Satyanarayana Acharya Swami had met Sri Swamiji when he was still alive and had requested Sri Swamiji to take over the temple. At that time Sri Swamiji had said that he would do so when the time comes. Today it has come - said Sri Swamiji. Important Announcement 30th November 2003 - Sunday Expressing serious disapproval, Sri Swamiji this morning announced that many people attach too much importance to dreams and Sri Swamiji's appearneces in dreams. Sri Swamiji stressed that "Swamiji appears in dreams only to Bless and NOT to give messages or instructions". Sri Swamiji also disapproved the concepts of people beleiving that Swamiji's photos cast Vibhooti powder or honey or such material. Sri Swamiji also called an end to people going around conducting Anagha Vratams and collecting monies for Ashrama projects. Sri Swamiji cautioned that spirituality is not business and trying to mix money and spirituality only drives people away from the path.
International Bhagavadgita Conference Sri Swamiji inaugurated the first International Bhagavdgita Conference in Tata auditorium in Indian Institute of science in Bangalore. The program was attended by a host of luminaries including the Governor of Karnataka, H.E.Sri.T.N.CHaturvedi, H.E.Rama Jois, Governor of Bihar, Sri.M.N.Venkatachalaiah, Former Chief Justice of India, Dr.P.V.Nath, Co-ordinator of the conference and H.H.Vidyaranya Peetha Swamiji and Prof.S.K.Ramachanra Rao, eminent scholar. Sri Swamiji spoke on the occassion and Blessed the conference. He said that it was important that the message the Bhagavadgita had to reach the common man in the villages. Sri Swamiji mentioned about the Uttara Gita in Maha Bharata where Krishna re-teaches the Gita to Arjuna after the war in a more relaxed setting of the Palace whence Arjuna was the king. The effect was different with Arjuna seemingly preoccupied with state affairs.

Sri Swamiji celebrates Deepavali in Mysore Ashrama 25th
October 2003 - Saturday In the evening devotees slowly chanted Lalitha Sahasranamam slowly. Sri Swamiji then came to the Datta temple and performed Arati to the Lakshmi and Dattatreya. The effulgent warm light of hundreds of Diyas (small oil lamps) lent a devotional atmosphere. Sri Swamiji spoke again and mentioned that Deepavali brings happiness, light and love in the families. Sri Swamiji said he was against using excessive fire crackers which was harmful to the environment. Sr i Swamiji then recalled the story of Narakasura and Krishna and how Deepavali is the day on which Krishna liberated the subjects suffering under the demonic rule of Narakasura.

2003, while returning from Bommeparthy to Mysore, Sri Swamiji visited
Naguvana Halli situated near Sri Ranga Pattina, about 22 kilometres
from
Mysore. The speech of Sri Swamiji was that of a child hood revelation.
Datta Peetham conducts mass Marriage in a poor locality in Mysore On 20th April 2003, Datta Peetham conducted a unique event in the down trodden colonies of Ambedkar colony and Nellore shed area of Mysore city. Two temples were renovated where the city sweeping (cleaner) community lives. 61 poor couples entered in to a wed lock in the Divine presence of Sri Swamiji. Datta Peetham sponsored the whole event including the Annadanam (poor feeding) on this day.
