Hunsur Visit of Sri Swamiji

Sri Swamiji visited the nearby town of Hunsur on 15th November 2002.

As part of Sri Swamiji's 60th Birthday celebrations, Ashrama has been renovating several temples. As part of this program, a dilapidated Adi Shakti Maha Kali temple in the downtrodden section of Hunsur town was renovated and the inauguration was held on the 15th November 2002.

38 marriages of poor couples were also held. Sri Swamiji spent over four hours with the innocent and much neglected class of people.Sri Swamiji gave golden Mangala Sutras, Saree and Dhoti to all the married couples. Sri Swamiji after arriving was taken in a one kilometer procession. Purnahuti was offered to the Devi Homa and Sri Swamiji then performed Prana Pratishtha to the idol.

Sri H.D.Devegowda who attended the function lauded the liberal attitude of Sri Swamiji for taking up the cause of the down trodden section of the society who were termed as Harijans by Mahatma Gandhi.This was the locality of of the city sweepers who sweep and clean the towns and are called as Poura Karmikas. Sri Swamiji was at ease and was very happy amidst all the people and Blessed the occasion with a speech in which he called for more liberal views from the conservative sections of the society in interacting and integrating the different sections of the society.
