Ganapati Festival at Vijayawada Ashrama

Pujya Sri Swamiji arrived in Vijayawada on 23rd in the morning from Madras. Sri Swamiji had returned from a brief visit to Australia and Singapore in connection with a crystal exhibition. On Sunday the 23rd, Pujya Swamiji performed the Maha Purnahuti of the Chandi Homam which was performed as the conclusion for the Koti Kumkumarchana program conducted by the Vijayawada Gnana Bodha Sabha. In the evening a Veda Sadas was held where erudite Ghanapathis and Veda scholars chanted selected verses from the Vedas. Those involved in the Kumkumarchana program were felicitated. Pujya Swamiji in the discourse praised efforts of the devotees and Blessed that more such programs happen in the Ashrama there. On 24th morning Pujya Swamiji visited the Kanaka Durga temple and offered prayers there. From there Pujya Swamiji arrived at the newly constructed welcome arch at the Jai Durga Teertham. This imposing structure with the idols of Ganapati, Raja Rajeshwari and Dattatreya stands across the entrance road form the main road leading to the Jaya Durga Teertham. Devotees performed Swarna Gauri Vratam in the evening.

On 25th the Ganapati festival was celebrated with great fervour and devotion. Pujya Swamiji performed Milk Abhishekam to the Ganapati statue in the Ganapati temple in the Ashrama premises. Vara Siddhi Vinayaka Vratam was conducted and about three thousand people participated in this annual exercise. Sahasra Modaka Ganapati Homam was performed in the evening. On 26th a committee meeting was conducted and it was decided to demolish and remove the existing Guru Nilayam so as to facilitate the construction of the much awaited Raja Rajeshwari temple. In the evening Pujya Swamiji released an audio cassette containing the compositions of Annamacharya, a famous singing saint of Andhra Pradesh . The compositions are sung by famous vocalist Sri. Nedanuri Krishna Murthy.

Jai Durga Teertham Arch

On 27th Pujya Swamiji drove from Vijayawada to Nellore. In Nellore a Krishna Yoga Mandiram is in the Ashrama premises. Pujya Swamiji was reverentially welcomed. There were programmes in the Ashrama till 30th. On 30th, Pujya Swamiji laid foundation for the temples of Ashta Lakshmi and Karya Siddhi Anjaneya. On 31st Pujya Swamiji drove from Nellore to Jayalakshmi Puram, on the way visiting Proddatur Ashrama and a devotee's house in Tadapatri . On 31st Pujya Swamiji visited the village Kandakoor and Blessed the villagers there. Thereafter Pujya Swamiji visited AVS residential school in Akuthotapalli village and blessed the children of that school. In the evening Pujya Swamiji was reverentially taken in a procession from Ashrama to the Jayalakshmi Puram village centre seated on a Oxen drawn cart, Sri Swamiji was almost swamped by frenzied devotees. As the procession crawled along the narrow by lanes of the village, house holders all along the path, offered their prayers and reverence to Pujya Swamiji. Sri Swamiji visited the famed Hanuman temple in the village and was appalled by the poor upkeep and ordered that this historic site be maintained by Datta Peetham. The six foot long idol may look simple but it was here that Mata Jayalakshmi gave spiritual Shakti Path to her Blessed son Satyanarayana. Aged villagers who were contemporaries of Mata Jayalakshmi were very moved by Pujya Swamiji paying a visit to the temple He spent most part of the day when Sri Swamiji was the child Satyanarayana and spent some precious years with His parents Jayalakshmi and Narasimha Shastry. Sri Swamiji also visited the now vacant site where the house of Narasimha Shastry once stood. Thousands of people had lined along the way and matching number of people stood on the roofs of houses craning their necks to have a glimpse of the most famous soul of this village. Later in the evening Pujya Swamiji addressed the mammoth gathering of villagers of various villages and exhorted them to lead a Dharmic life. On 2nd morning Pujya Swamiji performed the Bhumi Puja for the Sadguru Nilayam at Anantapur Ashrama. At 10 am Sri Swamiji left for Mysore by road, where He was given a grand welcome by devotees.
