Navaratri 1998 - Report of day four - 24-9-98

Parama Poojya Sri Swamiji performed the Nava Avarana Puja to the Divine Mother, who was worshipped as Goddess MEENAKSHI. After the puja Sri Swamiji rendered a fine instrumental music on the synthesiser, accompanied by several artists on Harmonium, Violin, Tabala, Mandolin and Morsing. All the devotees joyously sang in chorus Devi Navakam Bhajan "Namostute Manostute".

Sri Swamiji sang this new composition in addition to four other popular Bhajans.

Stanza 1: Vikasati sarasija mayi mayi Sadaye

Sravaticha madhurasa iha mama Hrudaye Sadaye Sadaye

Stanza 2: Anupada mudayati nijasukha mabhaye

Sachchidanadiai rahamiha vijaye vijaye vijaye

The purport of this new Bhajan is as follows:

"O! Divine Mother, you are the consort of Shiva. You reside in my heart with your divine brilliance. You are very dear to Shiva. The lotus of my heart blossoms by your spiritual grace. Your grace flows in to my heart. You bestow happiness, and make me fearless. By your grace I am blessed with Truth-Knowledge-Bliss, i.e. Sat-Chit-Ananda. This is the true achievement of my life.

 

Today morning Smt. Charumathi Ramachandran of Bangalore rendered classical Carnatic vocal music service. In the evening Smt. Anasuya gave a fine classical Carnatic music recital on Anklung, a bamboo musical instrument, popular in Indonesia.
