 Jaya Guru Datta. We are very glad to announce the conduct of Veda Nidhi series of Annual Vedic Programs in Datta Peetham from 17th to 21st May 2008 on the occasion of the 66th Birth Day Celebrations of Avadhoota Datta Peethadhipati, Jagadguru Parama Pujya Sri Ganapati Sachchidananda Swamiji.

This yearŐs program comprises of five important events; 1) 15th Annual Veda Examinations 2) Symposium on Standardising Vedic Character, Symbol, Accent-marking Scheme for Computational Processing 3) Veda Sadas (Convention) of Veda Teachers and Pundits 4) Srouta Ishti (Vedic Rituals) and 5) Veda Vignana Prakasa – Series of discourses for dissemination of Vedic Knowledge.

 

Several Dedicated Activists, Scholars, Institutions, Organisations, Donors, Patrons and Schools have either evinced interest or agreed in principle to support and participate in the organisation of these events for the preservation and propagation of Vedic Tradition. We heartily invite you to take part in the programs and make them a meaningful success. We are immensely thankful and earnestly hope that this endeavour would please the Almighty by yielding the desired results.

9 AM                 Inauguration of Veda Examinations & Veda Nidhi Programs by Dr.Sannidhanam Sudarshana Sarma, VC Vedic University – Tirupati

 

 1. Veda Examinations (15th Annual Exams)

Examinations are conducted by a board of erudite scholars in the following disciplines.

 

In addition, Jaimineeya Samaveda, Paippalaada Atharvana Veda and Maitrayaneeya Yajurveda Sakha scholars would also be invited to participate in the Veda Sadas. Thus Mantras in all the 10 available Veda Sakhas would be recited on this occasion to make this Sarva Veda Sammelanam. Certificates would be awarded to successful students along with Honorarium. However, for Students from Karnataka, these are conducted as annual examinations. All the examinees are paid Travel Fare.

2. Veda Nidhi – Symposium on Standardising Vedic Character, Symbol, Accent-marking Scheme for Computational Processing

Noted Scholars from modern and technical knowledge will be participating in the Symposium. Please refer to the separate Schedule of events for the symposium. This event would be conducted on 17th and 18th May 2008. Venue: SGS Veda Pathasala

3. Veda Vidwat Pravardhaka Sabha

About 70 scholars (from 6- 8 states) would be participating to chant one Varga/ Panchasat/ Sama from all the chapters of each Veda collectively in 2-4 member groups and enmasse for the welfare of the nation and society at large.

Venue: Universal Prayer Hall (Sri Datta Temple) & Sri Datta Venkateswara Temple

 

3. Srouta Ishti -

  1. Srouta Ishti being the principal purpose of Veda Adhyayana and Parampara - the conduct of the same would enlighten the Veda Students, Pundits and Public (Particularly those with hitherto no exposure to the Srouta System) 
  2. The program would be conducted in Poundareeka Rangasthala, a stage named after Sri Surappa Poundareekayaji, forefather of Sri Swamiji.
  3. Schedule: 9.30 to 12 Noon

On each of Ishti day, chosen group of 30- 40 students will be seated on the dias outside the Agnihotra Sala to acquaint themselves about the procedures/ program. Rest of the students will be seated in chairs and other devotees will be seated in the back. The same would be shown to the audience via LCD Projector and live commentary explaining the rituals would be conducted by experts. On different days, different aspects of the Ishti will be corroborated.

  1. Day One: 19th May , Sri Vaasudeva Paranjape (Rigveda and Meemaamsa Scholar) will explain Vedi, Paatra, Ritwiks and basic procedures.  
  2. On day two 20th May, Sri ST Nagaraja Sastry (Yajurveda, Vyakarana and Veda Bhashya Exponent) will exlain the process and quote Krishna Yajurveda legends - with emphasys on various processes in Ishti.
  3. On day three 21st May, Sri ST Nagaraja Sastry will be joined by Sri Gangadhara Bhat, explaining the Sangati and Prayojana (Relevance and Benefits - intellectual, educational, meritorious and Daily Rituals) of the Ishti.
  1. Veda Vignaana Prakaasa -

(Series of lectures in Kannada and English disseminating knowledge from Vedic Scriptures by scholars)

á       Discourse in Kannada Varnotpatti Vidhi (Analogy of the generation of sounds and process.) This lecture shall acquaint students/ public about aspects of Praatisakhya (1st Chapter), Paanineeya Siksha by Dr.N Radha Krishna Bhat (KSOU, Mysore) (30 min)

á       Discourse in Kannada - Swarochcharana Meemamsa (Method of Kantha Swara, Hasta Swara - Distinguishing Chatusswara/ Sapta Swara System) by Sri Vijaya Raghava Ghanapathi – Chennai (30 Min)

á       Inter action with Students (30 min)

á       Discourse in English  Vedic Tradition - A Genesis of Ecology Preservation by Veda Nidhi R.Krishna Murty Ghanapathi, Chennai (30 Min)

 

Session 3          20th Tuesday 6 PM 

1) Discourse in Kannada Maatraa Kaala Jignaasa (Understanding the Hrasva, Deergha, Pluta, Ranga Pluta, Kampa etc.; aspects of Swaras, Vyanjanas) by ST Nagaraja Sastry & Gangadhara Bhat (40 Min.) and Inter Action with Students/ Scholars (30 min)

2) Discourse in Telugu Reflection of Vedic Life in Literature – A view point from Abhignana Sakuntalam of Kalidasa by Dr.Rani Subbayya Deekshitulu, Mysuru (30 Min)
