kaala kaalodita jeevaraasheh Kaalotigodaara nijaatma tattvam Sambodhayan
khelati kaala kaalam
Tam kaala yonim guru datta meede
(Sri Datta Dhyaana Maalika)
He
preaches the Atma Tattva that is Real and timeless, to all beings
that have taken birth through ages. It is His Leela (sport). Because
those beings also become Kaalaateeta (transcending time), He is
the Yama (god of death) of Kaala (time) itself. Because He is Himself
the Kaalaateeta Paratattva (timeless principle), He is also the
one in whom time itself takes birth. To such Lord Dattatreya I offer
my prostration.
