Don’t Hate

“In a way, it is good to preach that all are children of God. It might help in lessening hatred among people,” said the professor approvingly.

“But that’s not what I am saying. It is God who created saints and sinners. It is one of the basic truths of creation,” reiterated the sage.

The professor grew a little impatient and was about to say something when the power went off. The ceiling fan stopped. Everyone started sweating. The disciples, who started fanning the sage with hand fans, started sweating and swore, “Why on earth did God create this dirty sweat!!”

“It is because of sweat that the skin is able to regulate the body temperature. It is because of this regulation of temperature that we are able to survive,” explained the professor.

“If it is so, would it not be a good idea to collect this sweat in a bottle and drink it?” asked the sage as though he was an innocent child.

“Aha! Don’t ever do that!! It is true that the body will suffer if there is no sweat. At the same time, it would be harmful to the skin if one does not wash the sweat away by bathing. Sweating is good; equally important is washing it away. Therefore, it is not fair to blame sweat. Instead of blaming the heat and sweat, it would be prudent to allow the sweat to come and then wipe it with a napkin” said the professor with a broad smile.

“Dear Professor! Similarly, for the sake of maintaining equilibrium, the Almighty has created both saints and sinners. Just as one gets rid of sweat by using a napkin, wicked people should be kept at a safe distance.

Why didn’t it occur to you that just as it would be foolish to hate sweat, it would be meaningless to hate the wicked??” just as the sage said this with a mischievous smile, power came back.
