Bhajan singing is one of the main methods that Sri Swamiji propagates as
a part of the Yoga System. Sri Swamiji has made Nama Sankirtana a daily
aspect of ashram life. Bhajan sessions occur every evening for at least
one and half hours. These sessions are conducted by both Sri Swamiji as
well as elder members of the ashram. On Sundays large numbers of devotees
come from great distances to sing with Sri Swamiji or listen to his meditation
and healing music.
Devotees of Sri Swamiji gather in satsang
groups all over the world to sing his bhajans. Many devotees experience
that this is one of the best ways to feel His divine presence in their hearts.
We are living in an age of great flux and confusion. All the
visible material improvement around is misleading us to believe that all
is well with this world. Of the inner voice there is no sign, except the
nightmares and wild emotions of hatred and violence. One thing seems certain-
the gentle days of calm and peaceful life are over. Even happiness and sorrow
have to be experienced in a hurry and Man seems to have no time on his hands.
The world is a crowd of lonely souls hurrying about, trying to numb themselves
with structured activity. In this haze, the Present Moment always passes
by without being grasped or savoured - and so the journey moves untill Life
gratefully slips out of the shuffling body and Time finally stands still.
As always the solution to defeat this refined zombilism is in
our hands. The key lies in harnessing the forces of the mind. Ancient Sages
had predicted of just such an age where 'sensations from all around make
the concentration impossible... and without concentration mental control
cannot be attained.' They had created Mantras or powerful vibrations which
were designed to cut through the confusion and help the mind take charge
of itself. These vibrations were shaped into the many names of Divinity
and their chanting thus took a religious dimension.
The Mantras were great sources of power and even without of
their many meanings they could bring about a transformation of the Spirit,
shaking it out of its 'Tamas" lethargy and leading it to 'Sattva' or
light.
The bhajans which have been composed and sung by His Holiness Sri
Ganapati Sachchidananda Swamiji bring the most potent Mantras uttered to perfection.
Set aside a few minutes a day for Nama Sankirtana. Singing bhajans or listening
to His recordings
with attention will usher in a profound and subtle transformation and link
you to the deepest pure part of your own Self.
